CFL postpones 2020 regular season due to COVID-19 pandemic

Like many other sports leagues, The Canadian Football League has been forced to postpone the start of their 2020 season with a proposed start up date of July 1st being tossed around.

The CFL was ready to get the new season underway in mid June but due to restrictions put in place due to Covid-19 The CFL said  that it won’t open before the beginning of July.

There’ word that if the season becomes a wash all players will become free agents as stated in CFL contracts but that has yet to be discussed.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released quarterback Bryan Bennett

Bennett, 28, has two seasons of Canadian Football League experience under his belt.

He joined the league in 2015 when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers added the Southeastern Louisiana product to their practice roster. He’d spend the following two campaigns with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before returning to Winnipeg for the 2018 season.

He’d appear in 18 games for the Bombers that season, completing 4 of 8 passes for 72 yards.
