Want to be a Tennis Pro?

It’s the off season so we wanted to do something little different today. We are going to talk a little about how you too can become a Tennis Pro and talk a little about Tyler Jr. College in Texas, my Alma Mata and what you can do to become a Pro.
OK so you feel you are a pretty good athlete but not good enough to turn Pro, but you love sports and don’t want to be gym teacher, so why not become a Tennis Pro. You get to travel to all sorts of great places and make good money get to have sex with lonely women who need someone to “TALK” to. The problem is how do you do it,(the tennis part not the sex you can figure that out on your own). One way is to just get lucky and get a job local club teaching, but you really better be a exceptional player with a great resume or you can’t get a job without some teaching experience. The other problem is that although they tell you that good teachers don’t have to be good players we both know that’s a lie. No one is going to listen to what you have to say if you can’t demonstrate it yourself.

This leads us to our next point which is Tyler Jr. College in Tyler Texas. I read about it in Tennis Magazine when I was Jr. in High school and said this is what I wanted to do. Everyone thought I was crazy cuz I could’ve went too any school in the country, but it was smartest choice I ever made. The year I got there in 1980 they were still making you take a few ridiculous recreation classes, but the second year I was there, their program was upgraded to include very intense training is all sorts of things pertaining to tennis, including student teaching and business classes as well. I went back there to work out with the team in 2000 and the program was even better and I’m sure it’s even better now. They teach you everything you need to know to run a tennis club and of course teach tennis as well. They also of course work on your physical game, and make you take the U.S.P.T.A test when you are done. You get associate degree as well and most of the classes transfer to any 4 year University. You might even get a scholarship at a 4 year if you play well because they are always in the National Title hunt every year. When I was there we were second in the nation. If you want to teach right away and you really have no experience teaching and are 18 you finish at 20 and can make a shitload of money, more than your all of your friends are making 2 years out of High School.
I heard there is a place in which you can major in golf as well I think it’s in Michigan, but I truly recommend going this route ,and earning a trade that can actually be useful, and then you can pursue your Degree in Art History after that. If you just are looking to teach without any experience, the other way to go is take the U.S.P.T.A Test on your own, it’s very difficult and gives you immediate credibility. I made a lot of money taking this route and even played the tour for a while and it was all based on that choice to go to a small little Baptist town at the time (It’s Grown Now) and pursue my goals. It also worked out well that now that I’m an old man I don’t have to use my body anymore and I am a bookie for America’s Bookie, but that is a story for another day on how to become a bookie.
