The Gamecocks are coming off one of the biggest wins in program history in taking down the 2-seeded Duke Blue Devils and are trying to make program history by getting to a Final Four. On the other side you have a Baylor team that at times this season has looked like a #1 team and at others couldn’t get out of its own way.
Something has to give at the World’s Most Famous Arena on Friday night and whomever wins this one is going to have a great chance to get to Glendale and the Final Four.
The Cocks used a smothering defense and sizzling shooting performance to take down mighty Duke, who was many peoples sexy pick to win it all, and they will need every bit of that if they are to advance to the Elite 8. Baylor can shoot the lights out from downtown and play an up-tempo offensive pace that can be deadly to opponents. The Bears Manu Lecomte is going to be an x-factor in this one as he can drill-em from downtown.
Look for the Cocks to be in this one for the majority of the first 30 minutes, but for Baylor to impose their will much like Kansas did in the later stages against Purdue on Thursday night. It has been a heck of a run for the 7-seeded Gamecocks, but it will come to an end at the hands of the super athletic Bears.
This will be a fun one for a while in the Garden, but Baylor will set themselves up for one win to get them to the Final Four in a season where they have looked all the part at times.
