And The Winner is??

2 min read

Another NHL lottery draft is in the books and you will never believe who will get the first crack at potential NHL up coming super star Connor McDavid?

Well if you guessed The Edmonton Oilers you are bang on.Entering the 2015 lottery draft it was the Buffalo Sabres who were sitting on a 20% chance of landing the #1 overall pick followed by Arizona 13.5%,Edmonton 11.5%,Toronto at 9.5% and Carolina at 8.5% to round off the top 5 teams.

Went the dust settles Saturday night it was Edmonton who once again did what many are calling the impossible dream as they Won the lottery draft and potentially landing the #1 prospect in 2105.

We it not the same Edmonton team who won the 2014 draft lottery?
If the song seems way to familiar was it not the same Edmonton team who has won 4 of the last 6 NHL draft lottery’s?

At first glance when it was announced that Edmonton won the lottery I had thought is this not the same Oiler team that has a $45 million lawsuit against the same Erie team that Connor McDavid played for.

Toronto Maple Leafs president was quoted as saying“They’ve got some luck,” said Shanahan, whose team had a 9.5 per cent chance of winning the lottery but who seemed relieved the Leafs retained the fourth overall pick. “You (worry) about sliding down to five. Happy we’re at four. There are some good players there.

“Obviously everybody came here today hoping to get the gold ticket,” Shanahan added. “The odds were stacked against most teams. There are a lot of good players in this draft. There is so much focus on the first couple of guys, and they’re fantastic players. It’s a very deep draft.”

How can a team like Edmonton get so lucky 4 of the last 6 season? Is Connor McDavid the answer to what seems to be a growing problem in Oiler land? Will this kid be the next Wayne Gretzky?

Will the Edmonton Oiler package away the #1 pick in the next few months to strengthen many gaps they have on their team exposed.
What can a Connor McDavid land Edmonton if a multiple player deal was put on the table.

The next few months will be interesting as the NHL conclude and its time to step to the microphone to make that selection.

If I am the Edmonton Oilers I would run out and purchase a lottery ticket because they once again got dealt the golden horse shoe and it’s the best place to be sitting while others are dialing your number.

Congratulations to Connor McDavid.
