It’s been a tale of two cities, Charles Dickens style, so far in the CBI Finals. The best of three has seen both home teams win by double digits, setting up a winner-take-all game three from higher seed Wyoming’s home court. The Cowboys come off a lambasting of CC 81-57 where the game was never really in doubt, but I see this game three has being a different type of contest as both teams know there is no tomorrow now.
Wyoming is led by the do-everything Justin James who had 21 points and 8 boards in the Cowboys game 2 win and will be looked upon to keep that going to help his squad earn their first ever CBI Title. CC is led by the versatile Demario Beck and solid PG Jason McManamen, who has one of my fave names in all of college hoops.
Both these teams like to run and can score in the 80’s and 90’s, but in this game, look for defense to be the key, as Wyoming will try to force CC into costly turnovers and use the home crowd to their advantage. CC has steadily grown into a better basketball program over the past decade and this would be a huge moment for them if they are able to win this one on the road for their first ever CBI title, so they will be ready and know they can beat this team as they already did by 10 in game one.
Look for this contest to be close throughout and for both teams to have their moments where they believe they have taken the upper hand to the other. In the end though , The Boys and James will just be too much as they will win this one , but it will come down to the wire. So gobble up those 8.5 points with CC and start your Final Four weekend off right!
