This is one of those games that could go either way if the key elements are hitting at their top levels, but still will be very tough for a Boilermakers team that has one of the best players in land in Caleb Swanigan, but goes against a Kansas team that is truly loaded. If Swanigan truly takes over, Purdue could win this one, but on the other side the Boiler defense has to contend with future lottery pick Josh Jackson and Frank Mason III who are combining for almost 40 points a game.
The task will fall heavily on a Purdue defense that has shown holes at times late in this season, but has stiffened the last couple of games to help get Purdue to the Sweet Sixteen. I see a back and forth game most of the way like Kansas’ last game against an undermanned, but gutsy MSU squad, but that by the second half of the second half, for Kansas’s size, speed, and talent to just be too much.
Purdue will show flashes that they can win this one and Swanigan will show just how solid of a player that he is, but much like it happened against fellow B1G team Michigan State, Purdue will run out of gas and the Jayhawks talent and deepness will rue the day and send Kansas to a likely meeting with their third Big Ten team in a row in the tourney in Michigan with a trip to the Final Four on the line.
