It might be a unfamiliar venue for the ACC tourney, but it is two very familiar foes fighting for a berth in the ACC title game on Friday night. This is the first year the conference has played their tourney in New York City and many aren’t happy they left their Tobacco Road roots, but this matchup might make them feel a little better about it and definitely more at home as two of the great Blue Bloods tangle with a lot on the line.
Duke had a brilliant late game flurry to come back and take down Louisville in the quarters and the Tar Heels rolled over Miami to set up the date with their biggest rival. This game is going to all be about tempo as both teams can run and gun, but when they are at their best they like to dictate the tempo and that is the best chance Duke has of slowing down UNC, who just beat Duke in both teams final regular season game.
Look for this to have all the feel of a title game and with both teams knowing this could mean the difference between a line or two on the NCAA seeding chart. I see this game coming down to the wire as most between these two powers do, but after Duke spent so much energy coming back on Louisville yesterday, the Tar Heels will just have more in the tank and will get a huge game from F/G Isaiah Hicks who has scored 40 points in his last two games.
7.34 DTM Bagels and Locks on the Tar Heels (UNC -3.5)
