It’s Sunday and the large majority of Week 1 of the college football season are done, but this is one of the slid games as part of one of the best ever opening weekends of college football. This could also spell the beginning of the end for Texas head coach Charlie Strong.

His team got waxed by the Irish 38-3 in the opener last year, and that set the tone of the Longhorns season. Another blowout city win like that for ND over Texas could make the groans of, “It’s time to move on from Strong” that much louder.

Notre Dame does have their own issues as the return a very talented team, but have had a tremendous amount of off the field issues. Many coming in just the last few weeks with multiple arrests. This will be a big test of how Brian Kelly has gotten his team ready and focused after the disaster coming into the season.

I look for Texas to hang tough for a quarter or two, but ND just has to much in all three phases and they will slowly wear down the Texas D and even with their possible Big 12 best secondary, ND will find the seams and holes and start to pull away in the third and fourth quarter. This is a huge must-win type of game at home for Texas and they will fail, further showing that Charlie Strong simply might not be the right guy to lead the Longhorn’s program in the post Mack brown era.

7.4 DTM Bagels and Locks on the Fighting Irish (Notre Dame -3.5)
