MLB Who’s Hot and Who’s Not – July 3
2 min readIt is probably pretty hot all across the country heading into this Tuesday’s 4th of July holiday, but as of Sunday’s MLB action, one of the hottest teams on this week’s list would have to be the Boston Red Sox following this weekend’s three-game sweep of Toronto by a combined score of 29-6. They have won their last four games and they are 6-1 in their last seven contests to open up a three-game lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East.
Boston is 47-35 on the year heading into this week’s three-game road series against Texas. It has been opened as a -117 road favorite for Monday night’s series opener and BetAnySports has set the total line at 11 after it had gone OVER in two of the three games against the Blue Jays.
The San Francisco Giants are a full 22 games in back of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West at 33-51 on the year, but they bring a rare six-game winning streak into this week’s three-game set at Detroit starting this Tuesday night. The Giants closed as underdogs in four of the six games they had won and their return on BetAnySports’ closing moneyline during this winning streak would be plus $630 on a $100 bet for each contest. The total stayed UNDER in four of their last five games.
Also in the NL West, Colorado is dropping like a rock in the division race with just one victory in the Rockies’ last 10 outings. They are now 48-36 overall and a full seven games off the pace. They will play host to the Cincinnati Reds this week for an extended four-game series starting this Monday night. Colorado has been listed as -163 favorite for Game 1 and the total is set at 12 after staying UNDER or ending as a PUSH in its last five games.
Both the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves are trying to make up some ground against Washington in the NL East with identical 7-3 records in each team’s last 10 games. New York will be on the road against the Nationals this week for three games while Atlanta will face Houston at home for two games before Washington comes to town on Thursday for an extended four-game series.
