Patriots Deflated By The NFL
2 min readThe NFL Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots got a taste of reality late yesterday when it was announced that MVP quarterback Tom Brady has been suspended without pay for the first 4 games of this coming season for violating the NFL policy on the integrity of the game. The New England patriots have also been fined a total of $1 million and will have to forfeit a 2016 first-rounder and 2017 fourth-round selection in the NFL Draft.
Tom Brady’s agent has been quoted as saying his client will appeal the suspension.
If you are oblivious to what occurred here it stems from the tampering with footballs in the AFC championship game versus the Colts.
This punishment comes 10 days after independent investigator Ted Wells found that it was “more probable than not” that Brady was “at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities” regarding the deflation of Patriots game balls used in the AFC Championship Game against the Colts
The story first became a national topic in the buildup to Super Bowl XLIX. Both Brady and Belichick vehemently denied doing anything to the footballs before the game against the Colts.
“At no time was there any intent — whatsoever — to try and compromise the integrity of the game,” Belichick said back in January. “I believe now, 100 percent, that I have personally and (the Patriots) have absolutely followed every rule to the letter.”
Controversy seems to find the Patriots on more than one occasion and this is not the first time they have been accused of cheating,we all remember the video taping of signals from the other teams sideline a few years back which was also denied by the team and their representatives.
Tom Brady is almost at the end of a fantastic career in the NFL but what will he most be remember for?
Will it be his TD record?
Will it be the number of Super Bowl rings?
Are will it be the Deflated footballs in the AFC Championship game?
The jury is still out on the above but it seems the NFL has already made their stern case for the punishment that was handed out.
Oh my this wouldn’t be the NFL if we did not have some sort of on field excitement.
